Year 4 – Woodpeckers

Welcome to the Woodpeckers’ class page!

Welcome to the Woodpeckers’ page! You will find the wonderful woodpeckers are always really busy. We love to solve maths puzzles and investigations. We also take part in a whole range of different activities during the week including reading, spelling investigations, P.E (twice – currently on a Monday and Wednesday), Art, French and not forgetting our amazing Learning Journeys. Our favourite activity has to be creative writing though! We love choosing the most exciting words to write a story!
We’re a very busy and bustling class. If you can’t find us in the classroom we’ll be outside exploring the outdoor learning environment or taking part in games. We do work hard, but also find time to celebrate our individual talents and interests and support each other to grow as members of our community and continue to do our best.
The Woodpeckers are fun, hard working and most of all WONDERFUL! Please stop by for a visit. See you soon.

Hello! My name is Mrs Blackbourn and I am the Year 4 class teacher.
My favourite subjects are maths, reading, design technology and P.E. – I love to be creative and find ways we can use skills we have learnt in a variety of ways. I enjoy bringing learning alive through providing opportunities to learn in ‘real’ ways. I get excited planning for a variety of visitors come and share their skills with us, while also enjoying getting out to learn beyond our classroom.
I always ask questions because this is how I believe we learn. Because of this I also encourage the children to ask questions for themselves to inspire them to find out more. Through finding answers together we are excited when things begin to fit together and makes sense! I like to engage the children using things that interest them including a variety of resources including iPads, film clips and images.
There are a strong team of staff who work within Year 4, each one of us using our individual talents and skills to do the best for your child. Working in partnership with parents/carers is essential, so if you have any questions or want to speak to me then please feel free to pop by or get in touch!

Hello, my name is Mrs Skinner and I am a Learning Support Assistant. I love working with the children and helping them to make their next steps to progress in their learning. You might also see me helping to serve our delicious lunches. My children used to come to this school and I love still being able to be part of the Saint Lawrence School family.
