P.E. and Sport

Saint Lawrence School children are encouraged to keep healthy and active.

Throughout the school year, sport is celebrated and recognised in and out of school.  Children bring in certificates and medals from after school clubs and we encourage children to adopt a ‘have a go’ attitude to a variety of sporting activities.  To engage the children throughout the year, we have a range of sports activities including our traditional sports day in the summer term to which parents are invited.  Some of our other sports activities have included Zumba, cricket, climbing walls and PGL for the Owls.

Sport isn’t just about physical activity. Children learn important skills such as teamsmanship, sharing, healthy competition and perseverance.

We invest a proportion of our Sports Premium to provide daily sports activities and break and lunchtimes, by employing a specialist Learning Support Assistant – Watch out for Miss Coster’s ‘Craze of the Day’ in the playground!

In addition, children throughout the school are able to work with external sports coaches, take swimming lessons and attend a range of after-school sports clubs.

We are also dedicated to Bike It School, working alongside Sustrans to encourage children to bike to school.  For more information on local cycle routes and the work Sustrans do, click here.
